Our Club’s Mission Statement
REDDING BREAKFAST LIONS
REDDING, CALIFORNIA
NARRATIVE OF CLUB ACTIVITY
Our motto is “We Serve”. We are part of a global service network, dedicated to doing good works to assist our local community and the members residing in that community. Our goal is to raise funds and commit those funds to the community in the form of donations to worthy individuals and causes.
The Redding Breakfast Lions Club members perform various fund raising activities throughout the year. 1, 2:
Our major fund raiser was the annual Gun and Antique Show. This was a two day event where members dedicate themselves to working the show, which entails providing a venue for antiques and firearms aficionados along with history buffs to come together to view and possibly purchase items on display. Average proceeds were $18,000.00.
Our annual Redding Breakfast Lions-Turtle-Bay-Three Bridge Run is in the fall of each year. We have runners from various parts of the country come together to compete in the sport of running. A portion of the money raised is donated to other local athletic running programs. Net proceeds average $3,520.00.
We invite high school athletes from various communities within the North State to compete in a Basketball Tournament. We select the top high school seniors in the Northern Region to compete with the top high school seniors from the Southern Region. The mission here is to provide a venue for competition between athletes from a different region. A portion of the money raised is donated to local schools for support of their music and athletic programs. Average proceeds are $1,470.00.
Our website “reddingbreakfastlionsclub.com” has a link to Amazon.com. Our club and community get the benefit of up to 9.5% “thank you” from the good people at Amazon on purchases made through our club website. This in no way adds to the price of the items.
We hold an Annual Crab Feed at the Millville Odd Fellows Hall in Palo Cedro. Great fun with music and dancing.
Colt 45 Baseball. This is a ticket selling fundraiser that exposes our community to good baseball and the Lions Club makes a little at the gate.
Our Club buys out the Riverfront Theater. We once again expose our community to some great theater and the Lions Club makes a little at the gate. We do a Potluck for this event and it always is lots of fun.
We have been fortunate to have donations from individuals over the years. The Redding Breakfast Lions Club Inc. is a 501-C3. Retired employees of Exxon and Merk, for example, can have donations matched by their previous employers. Are you retired? What organization did you work for? Care to donate?
