I was born in Glendale, California in 1955 where I lived for the next nineteen years. I was the 7th child from a family of 8 children. There were five girls and three boys with a spread of 24 years from the youngest to the oldest. Two brothers and one sister are deceased. I graduated from Glendale High School in 1973. Yes, the same high school that John Wayne had graduated from too.

My family moved to Mt. Shasta, California in 1974. I graduated from College of the Siskiyous in 1975, Shasta College in 1979 and Simpson University in 1991. I played football, basketball and baseball throughout my high school years and football while attending College of the Siskiyous.

I met my wife Rhonda (Dunlap) while attending COS. She was a cheer leader and I was the quarterback on the ’74, ’75 teams. After graduation we both moved to Redding and we were married in June of 1977 and have been happily married over these past 42 years.

Rhonda and I have three children. A son Nicholas who is 37, a son Matthew who is 34 and a daughter Ashley who is 31. Nicholas and Matt each have a boy and a girl and have blessed our lives with four grandchildren. Ashley lives with her husband in York, England.

I retired from the USPS in October of 2017 after 40 years of employment. My last assignment was the Postmaster of the Cottonwood PO. Over the course of 40 years I have managed numerous offices including Mineral, Bella Vista, Igo, Hayfork, Shingletown and Millville.

.
I joined The Lion’s Club in 2013 the first time and was sponsored by Norm Overbay. Due to the work schedule I was currently working, I had to withdraw my membership until recently when I rejoined the Club. Being a Lion to me is about helping in the community.

Both my wife and I love to travel throughout Europe. While our children were attending high school, we were fortunate to be selected as chaperones for three Europe trips. That was the bug that has gotten us hooked on visiting over 28 countries over the past 18 years. My other interests include cycling, golf, skiing and playing with my grandchildren.
