Presidential Test

June 2022

Hmm… On Thursday June 16th, we got our first trial run. I guess that is what you call it.

Our president elect for 2022 – 2023 Redding Breakfast Lions Club, decided he would like to run his first meeting.

“Charlie Follis Day”, I have known Lion Charlie before he was a Lion. Many things I learned about his family history on Thursday was extremely interesting.

He passed with flying colors. Lots of energy and will be a fine leader for our club.

He is open for suggestions and looking for plenty of support from all our members.

Now that we are out of the COVID crisis and lock down, there will be more activity within our community. I suppose this will now be our new normal and we will all adjust such as we had to do after 9/11.

Miss the carefree days of the 1990’s. May be the internet has provided us with too much knowledge since then. And were we jaded from the reality of life prior?

But life goes on and we keep striving to be the best we can be. Which means as a non-profit club we can make use of all the wonderful tools of the computer world. Yet, we still need hands on to accomplish many tasks.

With each of our members we have many talents and some are more comfortable with certain tasks. Together we can make a difference. A former Lion member once told me, “That if it isn’t fun, I don’t want to do it.” Point well taken. We do because we want to, not because we have to.

Looking forward to a great year for our club.

Bringing in new members with different knowledge and experiences, gives us a strong club. As we age, we may know more, but physically we may not be as capable of what we could do a decade earlier.

Back to June 9th meeting.

Lion John brought in a speaker from the Senior Center. They have all sorts of activities for anyone 50 or over. A great bargain for the price. A few years ago we attended some of their Friday night dances, they had great music selections, more of what we grew up with.

I went to a senior center in the Bay Area before coming to Shasta County. And all the band could play was really old music, can only be described as boring. Predated Lawrence Welk era. Most of it I never heard before.
