December 2022 Activities

December 6, 2022

It has been an incredible long time since I last wrote a post.

There has been a lot that has transpired in that block of time. But emails have been sent and updates on pages, so I’ve not been completely absent from this site. Want to thank Ava and Jennina for the videos that I’m able to share over on our Facebook page.

We have had a lot of super speakers. So happy for those that have taken on the task, making it an enjoyable meeting each week. Lots of “senior programs” that someday I might need. Nice to know they are out there. Have passed some info on to ones I know could use it.

We had our District Governor Mandi Daniels, visit us on November 17th. Met her at the District Convention in April. She has so much energy and enthusiasm, we need to bottle it. Lots of fun and laughs. Her motto for the year is “FUN”. She engaged us with a game of “2 truths and a lie”. We had to guess what the lie was. Okay… I am absolutely no good at this… but after some serious home thinking, I will be better prepared if I ever have to play the game again. It comes back to the reality, you are never too old to play games. Laughter is invigorating.

Of course the reminder here is District Convention in April 2023. Held at the Red Lion Inn in Redding. Again no excuses for not attending some of the weekend’s long event. Especially the “Food Fair”. Where else can you eat, have fun, drink a little for $5. Assuming they don’t raise their prices. But what a bargain.

We judged the Peace Posters by the Redding School of Arts students. Went to the presentation ceremony at the school on December 2, 2022. Lion Charlie did a great presentation and got the kids cheering at the end of the ceremony for the awards. We were given a musical production prior to the awards. Since the ceremony was over quicker than what was planned, the music teacher got all the kids singing Christmas songs. Lots of fun.

So Sycamore School is going to have a concert on December 12, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:30. I hope to see some of you attend this event. We have gone in the past and it has been fun. Great encouragement for the kids to have adults there.

Looking forward to our Annual Christmas Party at Riverview Country Club on December 11. 2022 at 9:00 AM.

We are again helping with Sycamore School’s Santa Shop. The dates are December 19th and 20th. Starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 1:45 PM. Nobody is expected to attend the entire 2 days. But we need volunteers to help out to fill the slots for this event. Will be bringing the school schedule to the next two meetings and of course on the party day.

December 29th Preston Sharp will be our speaker.
