A Lesson in Asking

Written by Mary Stephenson

Being once again frustrated by my “stupid” computer.  Fondly called that only when it doesn’t cooperate!

It produces this little blue circle that goes round and round with the mouse freezing.  (Hey, that would have been a fun sentence 40 years ago, leaving people with “What?”)

So back to the issue.  Up would pop the box with the options of “continue” or “stop plug-in”.  It didn’t matter what I chose it wouldn’t fix the situation.  It would just keep popping up.

Turning off the computer sometimes helped.  Some of the time it would go along smoothly for a few days and then back to the same problem.

I checked to see if some rogue program attached itself without my knowledge.  (At times this has happened.)  Ran the scan program.  Still the same issue.  Turn off and restart did not help.

Time to ask for help!  Not the usual resource (Gary).  This time I headed for Google.

Asking brought results.  Go to “Tools” find the “Add-ons” find the “plug-ins” find “Shockwave flash” and change the darn thing to “Ask to Activate”.  Ugh!  I have been through so much frustration over this problem for quite some time and it was so simple to fix.

Google has been a solution to so many problems and just for the asking one can find answers.

Been thinking about this for awhile and the wealth of information is at our finger tips, as long as we push the right keys.  Much like anything else in life, if we ask we get answers.

If we never ask: things will never change, frustrations will continue, we get no help, we get no solutions.
