July Meeting and Installation Party
July 2022 by Mary Stephenson
July 7th meeting we were honored with an eye-opening slide show from our own Lion Ava. She has been working hard on a book about COVID. Her explanation of how this virus works has given us a better understanding of why it has no boundaries. How it ravishes the body for some and not for others. Why some die and why some have long term effects and others walk away unscathed.
How it will all pan out for everyone in the future remains a mystery. The unknowns are probably the scariest.
And I am more determined that with the looming information Ava’s research provided is that in the end we have to be pro-active in our own health. This is not a website that we can take sides on whatever each of us believes. But in the end we must each decide for ourselves which course we take. Only time will tell if our choices were good or bad or maybe we will never really know.
But thank you Ava for sharing the research with us and we wish you great success when your book goes on sale. And thank you Allan for the technical part of her presentation.
July 9th
Another end to a year for the Lion’s Board and the beginning of a new one. Another hot day, but so glad for the AC blasting away.
Again thank you Allan for giving us some great dinner music.
Missed everyone that wasn’t able to show up for various reasons. You were missed!
We had some laughs and great conversations. And by gosh… we are such party animals, I’m sure everyone was home before it got dark!
Beautiful tribute to Lion’s commitment was at each person’s setting, created by Rhonda. Lovely job. And I’m sure she was also responsible for the amazing center pieces for each table. I was lucky to have gotten the haul for our table. (Tribute to Being a Lion)
There is a little story to how that came about. The tables sat six. There were 5 of us at our table. I sat in one spot to have dinner and then I moved over to the empty chair by Susie Duncan. Presto… they announced that on the back side of our tribute sheets was a flower for the winner on each table. When I looked at my new acquired seat, I had the flower. Moral of the story, if there is any empty chair at your table, move again to socialize and fill that empty chair.
Enjoy the updates—Miss the rowdy Lions!
