We Serve

Party Animals and Conventions

Written by Mary Stephenson 2-20-2017

Got up Sunday morning only to discover, some had been having far too much fun the night before! There had been a party going on under my kitchen sink. By the looks of the mess, and things knocked over, it was either mice (one could not have caused that much havoc), a rat or most likely the culprit…a ground squirrel. At least they didn’t figure out how to kick open the door and have free run of the house.

We have formed a committee for fundraising. Our first meeting was after the general meeting on Thursday. We made progress and all shared a lot of great ideas that we are following up with.

I am working with Susanna of Sycamore School to see when we can arrange the showing of the PALZ room to the press, etc. I have passed on information to her and when there are updates, will let you know.

The 59th Annual Lions District 4-C1 Convention will be held April 21 – 23 at the Gaia Hotel in Anderson. You can get a form to enter by clicking on the item in the sidebar menu. The reason I am telling you this now is if you want to go, if you sign up before March 1st the registration is $10 if you do it after that date it is $20. I had a blast last year. It started out a little shaky as I wasn’t sure of what was going on, but everyone was super nice. They had a contest for first-timers and I won. The contest was interactive and required us to talk to many people to get the answers.

The Food Fair was fun, they even have things to do there. Great opportunity for new people to the Lions. Gary and I will be signing up. Not going to do the meals as not sure if I will be having visitors during that time period. We will still go to some of the events during the weekend even if we have guests but won’t spend as much time at the convention.

  • Really a nice piece Mary. It will be interesting to hear what the ideas were relative to a fundraising.

    Nice website!

    • Hi Stan
Fundraising ideas are greatest when you can really get to sit down and talk about what has been tried in the past. With today’s obstacles for doing something of similar nature. We also talked about doing things differently. Definitely a brain-storming session. It becomes a time for going away and thinking on your own as to how to make all the feedback work to a new situation. Also improving what is already working.
