September – Reason for Enjoying Our New Look
Written by Mary Stephenson
Surprise: Jim got his gavel back! It is super great to have him back and glad he had a great vacation.
Interesting note: Mike Ferrier was telling me that the “Camp out for the Cops Event” ending up being a huge success. They ended up well exceeding their goal in a day and a half. Pretty awesome!

September 2016
As summer is winding down and the new school year has started, so goes the Lions. Time to start with the vision screening and to check out the next 5 months on the books go here.
Always an interesting experience with so many personalities involved. With well-behaved 5 and 6 year old kids, to high energy 8th graders. The variety is as varied as you can imagine.
I recall this one little girl telling her classmate to quit swinging on the tables. She was very upset with the other child when the tables slid. It was a cute encounter.
A fifth grader was so eager to learn she was asking question after question. I think the teacher was so accustomed to her chatter that he never saw the potential in her. That is a shame.
But of course it is not possible to cater to each and every child. If you have a class with too much misguided energy it is definitely disruptive. I wonder how many brilliant kids are not given the opportunity to soar.
When waiting for classes for the vision testing we have the wonderful opportunity to get to know our fellow Lions. Interesting conversations is one of the benefits for participating in this program.
I find it ironic that the colors red, white and blue stand for freedom……
