Veterans and Volunteer Days of Celebration
Written by Mary Stephenson 5-26-2017
Drums, recorders, violins, symbols and even an old helicopter towed in for the kids to see.
It was a grand event on the 24th of May.
This far exceeded last year’s event. Very proud of the kids at Sycamore School.
They are taking music classes this year and have improved so much over their last performance a few months ago.
Another good reason music classes are so vital to the education of young children. Learning how to play an instrument teaches them so much. A great accomplishment to add to their abilities of doing things that are meaningful. Playing with other students teaches them cooperation and the knowledge of how important their part is to making beautiful music.
The children of Sycamore are a joy to be around and a great hope for the future. The only wish is that more schools cared as much for the little ones as they do at Sycamore. PDF File for May 24 Patriotic Assembly
Hope more Lions attend next year’s event.
So for all the volunteers for Sycamore School they had their first appreciation “Volunteer Tea”. Susanna said it was called that for a lack of a better description. Someone did find some “tea” to serve just so that it made true on the word.
We didn’t know quite what to expect. But again we were pleasantly surprised. They had a lovely spread consisting of infused waters, fresh fruits, vegetables, skewers that contain the makings of a sandwich, some yummy banana rolls…that was like a healthy cinnamon bun!
Everyone introduced themselves and what they do for Sycamore.
On top of all that we were even entertained by some of the classes.
Go Dragons!!!
They were awesome!
