Is it Oktoberfest or Just Anything October?
Written by Mary Stephenson
Although we are happy for Kurt and Debby, we shall miss them immensely. Being with family you love is one of the most important things in life.
Gary and I met Kurt almost a year ago at the Lion’s Fall Fair in Shasta Fairgrounds. A day that has forever changed our lives.
If you had told us 2 years ago that we would be visiting schools more in one year than we had in the last 30, I would not have believed it.
Before arriving to Shasta County we had considered for the remaining years, if possible to try to make a difference in some way, not sure as to how or where.
Six Months For This Site
written by Mary Stephenson
How time flies!
If anybody has thought about, been counting or maybe even wondering, the site has been up for six months. Home page was first published on March 30, 2016. It has changed and will constantly change.
This is post 24. Last week due to under the hood techie issues we felt it was better not to post anything. Minimal changes were made.
Today was the Turtle Bay Run. Cooler was nice, but I am sure the rain was not appreciated. Would have been nice if it had held off until later in the day. Continue reading
A Lesson in Asking

Turning off the computer sometimes helped. Some of the time it would go along smoothly for a few days and then back to the same problem. Continue reading
Vision Screening at Juniper
Written by Mary Stephenson
Vision screening at Juniper on September 7th. We all looked pretty cool with our new Lion shirts. I for one, was much more comfortable and enjoyed the fit. I also believe it was less intimidating for the kids than the yellow vests. We just may blend in a little better with the blue shirts. More normal to what the kids would actually see in their world.
One of the classes we had were all 3 years old. That brought a lot of smiles. Some were brave and jumped on to the chair grinning from ear to ear. They were informed there was going to be a picture taken of their eyes. Hey, picture means you need to smile! Others were not so anxious about the whole process.

Surprise: Jim got his gavel back! It is super great to have him back and glad he had a great vacation.
Interesting note: Mike Ferrier was telling me that the “Camp out for the Cops Event” ending up being a huge success. They ended up well exceeding their goal in a day and a half. Pretty awesome!
