A number of us had the pleasure of joining the kids at Sycamore School on June 2nd.  This was their last day of school.

In Honor

On May 25, 2016 there was a” Patriotic Assembly” in memory of those who served in the military.

It was held at Sycamore School in Redding.

The program was “Music in the Air“.

Children performed a list of patriotic songs and each ending their performance with an adopted university chant.

Children and Art

Involving children in such projects as the Peace Poster Contest helps bring purposes together.  Children benefit by the challenge of competing.  The Lions get acknowledged in the hopes it will bring a new awareness of what we do and may bring an interest of others joining.

The official reception for the Peace Poster Contest was held on Friday, May 20 from 5 – 7pm.  Since we are new to the area and not sure how the attendance was in other years, it seemed a shame that more had not showed up.  But trying to make sense of it I realized the big competition was the Redding Rodeo.  Probably not the best time to have a reception! A Need to Survive

In order for any club or organization to survive it needs to grow the membership.

 

An analogy would be that if there were no more human babies born as of tomorrow, within 100 years the human race would be pretty much extinct, no matter how good science became.  Our lives are fundamentally connected to farmers.  I can’t imagine 100 year old farmers caring whether the last few people would get fed.  They would only grow enough to take care of those close to them if they could farm at all. From a Different Perspective

Prior going to the Lions District 4-C1 58th Annual Convention on Friday April 29th I had wrote out some thoughts and have since deleted them.

 

Not knowing if I would be bored silly or have a lot to report the other alternative was to approach the event with a perspective on psychology.

 

As the weekend moved along things began to take shape and the many questions of what motivates people came to light. Continue reading
