Do You Remember Those Days?
written by: Mary Stephenson
A number of us had the pleasure of joining the kids at Sycamore School on June 2nd. This was their last day of school.
Dreading the possibility of having to fire up the grill in 100 degree weather and master the art of keeping hot dogs from cooking to a crisp.
We were pleasantly surprised that not only the temperature gave us a break but the kitchen staff had prepared everything before we arrived.
We had about 15 minutes to go watch the children’s water relay games. They were all dressed to get wet, making the situation a lot of fun.
The last day of school as I recall, was hyped up kids with very little learning taking place. The laughter was refreshing and brings back fond memories of youthful days.
Our participation in the event was filling the plates of hungry little kids. The menu consisted of hot dogs (the star of the event), chips, sliced veggies, strawberries, orange pieces and watermelon.
Nice event. It sure is good to not be standing at a grill.
The helping at the need camp is just around the corner. That is always a pleasure.

Yes, was very glad we didn’t have to stand over the grill.
Had a nice shady area to hand out the food for the kid’s lunches.
Was delighted to see they were offered lots of fresh fruits.

It was a great day. Sycamore is a special school with a very special Principal and dedicated group of teachers and staff.
I was very impressed with what is actually happening over at Sycamore School. It will probably end up being a model school. Changing lives one little kid at a time. It is definitely worth getting behind and giving all the support we can. It matters more when you can really see progress being made that is permanent.
