Road Trip
Written by Mary Stephenson
All the makings of a road trip.
Reluctant to accept an invitation a few weeks back. Did not want to commit to something that at the time was iffy about doing. With tooth extraction and then suffering a little with vertigo afterwards, the thought of an unfamiliar setting was not my idea of fun.
Back to normal and when they still needed volunteers I said okay.
Jim, Ernie, Gary and I all decided to go together.
We were invited to Lakehead Lions Club for November 17th. The initial invitation was to bring something for the potluck. By the time for the decision to go; it was we didn’t have to bring anything.
We all met at Jim’s house and we were chauffeured by Jim to Lakehead. Ernie was the GPS. Thank you Jim for the ride.
Lakehead Lions put on a Class A act. Tables had white tablecloths with a lovely brown runner on each. Silverware was wrapped in a napkin with a 1″ brown sheer ribbon neatly tied with a bow. On the runner was a large seasonal candle arrangement and 6 votive candles. Lovely assortment of olives, cubed cheese, artichokes, etc. with light green skewers in a container to retrieve them. Also there was a Ferrero Rocher Hazelnut Chocolate at each setting.
The buffet had a huge assortment of delights. Turkey with all the trimmings, numerous salads, casseroles, pies. I did zero in on the fudge … it was a little potent! Went back for more on that one.
Governor Jamie Hart, 1st Governor Marianne Keesee, and 2nd Governor Sue Kerr all attended and gave some inspiring speeches.
We had a great time meeting with everyone and the joy of being around like minded people was invigorating.
We came away from this thinking we should probably do more visitations.
