Another Empty Chair
On November 30th Lion Arch Pugh announced this would be his lasting meeting. He had officially retired and was moving the following Thursday.
We shall miss Lion Arch. And our morning singing is going to severely suffer without his leadership. It was suggested he record his voice so we would somehow be able to keep in tune.
Maybe now is the time to search for someone that can lead us in singing. Funny; when we happen to visit other clubs or even going to the convention, they pick different songs. Probably because they have singers in the group. But I don’t think I want to give up the laughter we all enjoy for botching the song. Although, when I had my B-Day a few weeks ago and volunteered to throw in an extra dollar for a song, everyone burst into a hardy Happy Birthday. Now maybe if we could just change it into Happy Birthday to America, we could nail it every time!
Lion Arch filled the morning with the history highlights of the club over the years. It was inspiring. Now I understand why they were such a rebel club. Yay, and at that time they were probably better off without women. That would have definitely put a restraint on their shenanigans.
He gave me some insight on how things started and how things might need to change direction. And that it was okay, if we see something that isn’t working as planned.
We wish Lion Arch all the best.
People come and go out of our lives, but never forgotten. At least with the Lions Club we always have a bond wherever we might travel.
Mary that was well written. Arch is a true gentleman.
