Christmas Party 2023
December 9, 2023
Just got back from a fantastic feast. (No kidding, it was really good!) Biscuits and gravy, perfectly cooked sausages, yummy seasoned fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, etc. Once the Christmas season is over and all the tree decorations are put away, and the chocolates are all gone, maybe we can get back to serious healthy behaviors.
I applaud Lion John, Lion Melanie, and all the other Lions (and spouses) that made this event a terrific success. Nice cozy little gathering, enjoyed many laughs and great conversations. A game to test our Christmas knowledge, which most of us did poorly, even if the bell curve was used we failed. Singing: we did a little better. The piano player did a great job of entertaining us as we relished in the delightful brunch.
Another Empty Chair
On November 30th Lion Arch Pugh announced this would be his lasting meeting. He had officially retired and was moving the following Thursday.
We shall miss Lion Arch. And our morning singing is going to severely suffer without his leadership. It was suggested he record his voice so we would somehow be able to keep in tune.
Maybe now is the time to search for someone that can lead us in singing. Funny; when we happen to visit other clubs or even going to the convention, they pick different songs. Probably because they have singers in the group. But I don’t think I want to give up the laughter we all enjoy for botching the song. Although, when I had my B-Day a few weeks ago and volunteered to throw in an extra dollar for a song, everyone burst into a hardy Happy Birthday. Now maybe if we could just change it into Happy Birthday to America, we could nail it every time!

Installation Breakfast for 2023-2024 Club Officers
Was held at Country Waffles on Thursday July 6, 2023 at 7AM
We all had a great time with lots of laughs. Plenty of “awards”. You had to have been there to appreciate the great effort put on by both Lion John and Lion Melanie. Lots of great quotes to keep us laughing.
Lion Charlie did a great job being our 2022 – 2023 president.
Sycamore School Awards 2023
Written by: Mary Stephenson
Wearing our blue shirts we arrived at Sycamore ready for the first time in a while to actually attend the end of year promotional awards.
Gary and I showed up June 7th to give out some of the awards. I think it was a bit muddled as some 5th graders received awards on the 7th and 8th. Yet all 5th graders showed up on the 8th. I think next year if they are going to have all 5th graders coming to the “5th Grade Promotion” they might as well wait until then. I think they did this for our benefit, by not having us come both days. But in reality, since we were already over that way on Thursday it seemed only rightful that we let the kids have their proud moments in front of family. Continue reading
Weaverville Road Trip 5-30-2023

Yay, a “road trip”…
Lions John, Gary, and myself all met at Lion Norm’s place at 4 PM to head out to join the Weaverville Lions for their evening meeting. Was fun for us, as we were chauffeured by Norm to the event.
