Arch Pugh

  • BIO – ARCHER F. PUGH

I was born in Taft, California (actually lived in Fellows, both lie West of Bakersfield) on February 21, 1935. Thereafter lived in Fresno, Stockton, Redding (August 1944 – January 1950), Eureka (January 1950-January 1953), Salt Lake City ,Utah where I graduated East High School in 1953.

I entered the University of Utah in the fall of 1953. I became a member of the armed services by entering the army under a volunteer draft program in August 1954. Served in Germany from January 1955 until July 1956.

Returned to the University of Utah for the fall of 1956 and transferred to University of California at Berkeley in January 1957. I graduated in 1959

and entered Hastings Law School. Graduated from Law School in June 1962, took the bar exam in August and moved to Redding the day after the bar exam. Been here ever since.

Started my practice with Ira Shadwell from September 1962 until October 1967. I was a sole practitioner until April 1968 when I partnered with David Packard. He retired in 1988 and I then partnered with Brian Van Voris and am presently practicing with him.

In 1960 I married Helen Ward, having met her in February of 1957. We had two children, Leslie in 1968 and Lynne in August 1971. We were fortunate to have Cinde ( the wife of Joe Hernandez) become part of our family in April 1975 as another daughter. Helen passed away in February 1997 from cancer.

I married Eve in May of 1998. We had known each other for over thirty years. Her former husband, Berge Berg was a member of this Lions club and Eve and Helen were in a local sorority together. Between us we have 6 children (I adopted Cinde in 2004) and 13 grandchildren. Eve is an interior designer, artist and all-round creative person.

We spend our time visiting grandchildren, playing golf and traveling to visit art galleries and museums while visiting friends. When time is available we are avid booklovers and collect them faster than we can read them.

I have been a Lions Club member since March 1964. I joined one week after the Charter period. Just another of the good old guys.

Arch wanted to add some bragging rights and although it was on Home page for a short time we figured he would like to continue with the right to show a little love on his page.

All about his grandson. Check this out.
